Managing Identity

Eduserv's Identity Management solutions combine software and service options to enable you to manage your users' identity data and control its release to service providers that you've subscribed to on behalf of these users.

Our Identity Management solutions comprise two core components of the OpenAthens framework of products and services:

OpenAthens MD provides a complete hosted service for the creation and managment of user identities and entitlements. It includes widely-used administrator tools and the ability to reach resources whether accessed using Athens or SAML (Shibboleth implementation).

OpenAthens LA provides a core modular software platform for integration into an organisation's IT infrastructure. It enables the use of local directories, databases and even applications as the basis for authentication, management of entitlements and release of identity information to online service providers.

By using both components, organisations can adopt a flexible approach to their identity management. Having integrated OpenAthens LA with your user directory, you can also still use OpenAthens MD either as a back-up option and/or to manage identities of ad-hoc and other users who, for a range of reasons, are not registered in the appropriate user directory.
