AthensDA is one of the protocols that can be used to assert authentication status to Athens and to pass attribute information. It provides a simple alternative to Shibboleth or SAML.
AthensDA entered active service in September 2002, and is now in use by over 70 organisations, to connect a diversity of authentication systems including Active Directory and Kerberos.
A discusssion list for organisations who implement or are in the process of implementing AthensDA is available at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/athensda.html. The archive of messages can be viewed by anyone.
