Already registered?

Before registering, please check that your organisation does not already appear on the List of Athens organisations.

Registration

You will need to complete a simple registration form and sign a licence. The first step is to contact us on athenssales@eduserv.org.uk and discuss your needs with us.

You will be required to review the Eduserv Terms & Conditions to ensure that your organisation can and will comply with them

Please note that Athens does not provide the data itself (journals, databases, etc.) but a secure and convenient method of access where institutional subscriptions to data services already exist. Individual level subscriptions are not currently supported.

Getting started

After registration, the Athens Service Desk will set up an administration account to allow you to use our service and will be happy to talk you through any aspects of the service of which you are unsure. You may find the following documents useful:

How much does it cost?

Account management charges are based on the number of users at your organisation. Please contact athenssales@eduserv.org.uk for further details.

Athens trials

Eduserv offers free three-month trials of Athens, to enable organisations to evaluate the benefits of Athens for their own organisation.

Note that Athens registration does not in itself provide access to Athens protected resources. Each resource provider has its own procedures for allowing access to resources which may well require subscriptions. You will be required to contact each resource provider separately.

Do I need special software to use Athens?

All you need is an up-to-date web browser.
