How are passwords chosen for users?

Passwords are either chosen by administrator when creating accounts or by the user if the administrator has decided to send an activation code by email (preferred method as credentials are not sent over email).  Users can also chose their own password  when self-registering. In addition, personal account holders may change their own password at any time via MyAthens.
