Universities and Colleges
Athens technology has been used by UK academic institutions for access and identity management since 1994.
Now using our OpenAthens framework of access and identity management products and services, you can:
- Provide your staff, students and researchers with easy, single sign-on access to the online resources, databases and journals your institution has subscribed to
- Use the OpenAthens SP component to ensure staff, students and researchers can use the same single sign-on to gain access to the internal web applications and services that your institution provides.
For a single annual subscription your institution can participate in access management federations, use the popular MyAthens user portal and also integrate with any new identity standards, because the OpenAthens framework is a fully supported, flexible and modular framework. This helps to dramatically reduce your development time and costs.
Your subscription gives you access to helpful administrator tools that enable you to easily allocate resources to susbcribers and manage your users. You can see statistics for user access to resources protected by Athens and other protocols (e.g. SAML) so you can report on usage.
The OpenAthens framework of products and services is provided on a shared service model - this means that all of the organisations who use the products and services contribute financially towards their development and operation.
